This grand opening marks not only the start of a new chapter but also the continuation of our Sweet 16th Business Anniversary! Over the past 16 years, Lovely’s Sewing & Arts Collective has taught more than 1,000 people the trade skill of sewing — empowering youth, teens, and adults through creativity, entrepreneurship, and community. For me personally, this moment is deeply full circle. At 17, I worked in the IDS Center and dreamed of one day having a space there. Now, at 45, that dream has come true — and I couldn’t be more grateful to share it with all of you.
Our new location is a Creative Hub for creativity, commerce, and community. In the Retail Space, you’ll find beautiful items created by our students — youth, teens, and adults who sew at Lovely’s — as well as handcrafted pieces by local Twin Cities artists featured on our Lovely Friends Wall. In the Makerspace, you can come in to create something for yourself or a loved one — a purse, coin pouch, greeting card or small handmade items. A portion of each Maker’s experience supports scholarships for underserved families to take sewing classes.You can also take a picture at our Pay-It-Forward Selfie Wall, which will feature a new themed, enchanting design each month to inspire connection and joy.
This new home in the IDS is more than a space — it’s a Community Hub for growth, creativity, and togetherness, one stitch at a time. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
